The federal government, Province of British Columbia and Boeing Canada Operations Ltd are providing $1.5 million over four years to support 100 graduate student internships who will utilize the emerging multi-disciplinary field of visual analytics to help improve aircraft efficiency and reliability. Funded through the MITACS-administered ACCELERATE BC, the students from the Univ of British Columbia and Simon Fraser Univ will examine vast quantities of data from Boeing's Richmond BC-based AeroInfo Systems Division. Visual analytics provides an interactive visual representation of large volumes of data by combining computer science, mathematics, engineering, design and analytical capabilities.
