CDRD scores $2.2 million for immunotherapy equipment

Western Economic Diversification (WD) is providing $2.2 million to the Centre for Drug Research and Development to purchase equipment for its new immunotherapy initiative. The equipment will allow CDRD to work with academic researchers and companies to develop novel technologies and potentially identify new targets for immunotherapy. The funding builds on a $900,000 WD investment in 2011 to establish its biologics division which has raised $5.8 million from public and private partners for 12 projects. Immunotherapy uses the human immune system to treat disease by inducing or suppressing immune responses in the treatment of cancers, and autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis....
