Dr Claudine Simson is leaving Nortel Networks Corp after 23 years to advise start-up firms on the development and deployment of disruptive technologies. Until recently, she was a member of Nortel’s Disruptive Network Technologies Group, but it was dismantled earlier this year when the telecommunications giant was forced to dramatically downsize (R$, June 25/01 & May 12/00). Simson is already working with Ottawa-based Optenia Inc, a designer and manufacturer of integrated optical components. In addition to assisting start-ups, she also plans to contribute to corporate boards and continue her involvement with a variety of research institutes, government advisory boards and academic institutions….
