HEALTH RESEARCH AWARENESS CAMPAIGN ANNOUNCED

A new organization has been created to raise awareness of the importance of medical science and research. National Health Research Awareness (NHRA) will hold a public launch this month of an awareness campaign, commenting on the Liberal health research funding and outlining its priorities for all political parties heading into the next federal election. It is also launching a web site (www.researchforlife.com) that contains information on Canadian medical discoveries and Canadian scientists. NHRA is headed up by Dr John Cairns, dean of the Univ of British Columbia's faculty of medicine and Jeff Lozon, president of Toronto's St Michael's Hospital. It is financially supported by a number of organizations including the Association of Canadian Academic Healthcare Organizations, Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Coalition for Biomedical and Health Research, Partners in Research and the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation....
