Dartmouth NS-based CarbonCure Technologies Inc is partnering with Outback Materials to install its CO2 sequestration technologies at Outback's Fresno CA plant to improve the environmental performance of its concrete making operations. The agreement opens up a vast new market for CarbonCure, which landed the firm in the semi-finals for the $20 million NRG Cosia Carbon XPRIZE challenge by demonstrating its technology to convert CO2 emissions into stronger and greener concrete. The firm’s technology will find its way into concrete used for projects in central California including the high-profile California High-Speed Rail Project. Construction began in 2015 with the first leg slated for completion by 2019 and the final section scheduled for completion by 2029. CarbonCure’s technologies are operational in several concrete plants across North America, sequestering waste CO2 during the concrete manufacturing process.
