NRC updates national energy building codes

The National Research Council has introduced a suite of changes to the National Energy Code for Buildings, harmonizing the code with current energy efficiency regulations and industry standards. The 90 changes impact standards for lighting, service water, HVAC systems and enclosed ventilation systems. Part of the Canadian Energy Strategy, the updated codes will improve the energy efficiency of new buildings by 27%, adding to a 33% savings achieved between 1990 and 2012. Construction codes are published every five years to ensure that the latest innovations are applied to the construction industry....
