Ontario launches $10-million pilot digital IP fund

Ontario is rolling out its $10-million pilot program to accelerate the development of screen-based intellectual property with funding announced in the last provincial Budget (R$, March 30/09). The Intellectual Property Development Fund is administered by the recently established Ontario Media Development Fund, which covers everything from film and television properties to video games and Internet-based content. The program will provide 30% of eligible costs up to $150,000 plus a 10% bonus of up to $20,000 for corporations that advance their project with third-party financing. Eligible expenditures must be made between April 1/09 and March 31/10. Continuation of the program will be based on its evaluation and available funding....
