British Columbia universities and colleges are the first in the country to be funded under the Knowledge Infrastructure Program (KIP) with $455.1 million going to 29 projects. The first round of projects received $202.3 million from KIP, $231.1 million from the BC government and $21.7 million from other sources. The largest project is at the Univ of British Columbia which receives $64.2 million to create advanced research and teaching facilities at Biological Sciences West and South. Simon Fraser Univ receives $49.4 million for a phased renewal of its Schrum Science Centre. The Univ of Victoria receives $42.5 million to renew several 40-year-old buildings.
