Dr. Tammy J Clifford has been appointed to the position of Vice-President of Research Programs at the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), starting October 29, 2018. In this role, she will oversee the design, development and administration of CIHR’s funding programs and science policies, and will collaborate with other members of CIHR’s executive team to help decide the organization’s strategic directions. Clifford will be leaving her role as Chief Scientist and Vice-President of Evidence Standards at the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies (CADTH), where she has also served in other senior leadership roles. Clifford is an adjunct professor at the School of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Ottawa. As a researcher, Clifford worked on maternal and child health projects at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, and more recently, as a principle investigator on a number of knowledge translation research projects.
