The Technology Demonstration Program (TDP) has awarded $54 million to a consortium of aerospace companies led by Bombardier Inc to develop electric and aerodynamic systems that reduce energy consumption, and produce more reliable and quieter aircraft. The new systems will replace traditional pneumatic and hydraulic systems and add electronic interfaces to conventional mechanical flight controls. Other companies in the consortium are Rolls-Royce, Thales, OPAL-RT, Quaternion Aerospace, FusiA, Liebherr, Axis and Microturbo (Safran). The award is the second made by TDP (R$, May 18/16).....
