Telecommunications CECR officially launches

The Centre of Excellence in Next Generation Networks (CENGN) has officially launched in Ottawa with a diverse membership that includes 12 corporate partners aimed at increasing Canada's share of the $5-trillion information and communications technology (ICT) market. Awarded $11.7 million through the Centres of Excellence for Commercialization and Research (CECR), CENGN brings together multinationals, smaller firms, high-tech start-ups, service providers, research scientists and academics in a multi-vendor platform for developing intelligent, software-defined networking solutions.With its headquarters in the Kanata Research Park in west-end Ottawa, CENGN will establish satellite offices across the country, as well as link to regional innovation centres where start-ups can access business support. CANARIE is providing the networking infrastructure for CENGN's membership which is responsible for 90% of Canada's telecommunications R&D. CANARIE manages a cloud-based compute and storage service called Digital Accelerator for Innovation and Research….
