Purpose Capital, an impact investment advisory firm, has appointed Upkar Arora as its CEO and new investor. Arora brings more than 30 years of experience in impact investing, most of which were spent with Illumina Partners, a boutique consulting firm focused on helping Canadian organizations succeed financially while creating social impact in communities. Arora is tasked with expanding Purpose Capital’s advisory services, particularly in helping organizations that address social and environmental issues, strengthening its market leadership and encouraging more players to participate in the sector. Arora has been actively engaged in the social finance sector in the last seven years. He has made investments in community bonds, social impact bonds and renewable energy. A charter professional accountant, chartered accountant and alumnus of Univ of Waterloo, Arora also sits on various boards such as Univ of Waterloo’s Board of Governors, Metrolinx, Inc and Institute for Canadian Citizenship.
