Ubisoft planning major Montreal expansion

Ubisoft Entertainment Inc is undertaking a $454-million expansion of its Montreal operations with the assistance of the federal the Quebec governments. The France-based developer of interactive entertainment products plans to add 1,000 new jobs in Montreal — its largest R&D centre — boosting its Montreal employment to 3,000 by 2013. The Quebec government is contributing $17.6 million from three sources to facilitate the expansion. Emploi-Québec will provide $6.3 million for training during the project's first three years while the Ministry of Education is providing $5.3 million to develop personnel specializing in electronic games. Another $6 million comes from Investissement Quebec's Strategic Support for Investment program to assist in the expansion project. The federal government is providing an $8 million repayable loan through the regional strategic initiatives program of Canada Economic Development....
